Gainesville Fight Night Fight Card

This Saturday August 21, the southeast's ultimate proving ground descends upon the Georgia Mountains Center and brings a night of extreme cage fighting action and atmosphere.

The ISKA will govern the event and their Georgia Featherweight Title will be on the line in the main event match-up between Striker MMA stand out Gerry Tena and undefeated rising star Travis Lord of Hardcore Gym in Athens, GA. Both fighters dominated opponents in their recent SportFight X showings and Tena is the current SportFight X Featherweight Champion.

Also on the card is Gainesville's own Chase Thomas a powerful and dynamic fighter who gets his kicks from slamming and pounding his opponents into submission. Earl Waller, one of the region's fastest rising stars returns to the cage after a dominant performance over his opponent in July on the Undefeated card, it is of no coincidence Waller is also undefeated 3-0 himself.

A female fight always adds spice to the ingredients of a card and Brittany Tyner vs Jindriska Skees, both looking to put on a show in their debut performance.

Project Whoopass takes First place in Cuervo Games

SportFight X and Chris from Project 9-6-1 partnered to create "Project Whoopass" a team built exclusively of Mixed Martial Artists from SportFight X to compete in games built around an obstacle course called the Cuervo Games. Although radio teams were not allowed to compete with walk on teams, Project Whoopass came out victorious in their division by easily beating out the other competing athletes.

"Hell yeah, I knew I had an advantage going into this, the other On-Air guys picked their baseball team and random other sport competitors to compete for them but in my opinion MMA athletes are the best in the world, hands down. So yeah I had my Ace in the hole."

The competitors on Project Whoopass were:

Byron Bloodworth- Professional MMA Fighter, Grappling Expert

SFX3- Complete Undefeated Gallery

SportFight X returned to Atlanta, GA and with it came all the action and atmosphere you would expect from the promotion that is raising the bar in Southeastern Mixed Martial Arts. "Undefeated" was the title of the event, justified by the fact that 15 undefeated fighters graced the card including the main event Ethan Garrison and his opponent Sammy Collingwood. The card also featured the 2010 REDLINE 155 Grand Prix a tournament to find MMA's next break-out star which included a three round war between Jerrid "TrueBlood" Burke and Mark "The Cowboy" Corum. The two athletes instantly stole the hearts of the crowd and was dubbed fight of the night.

Inside, he is the ISKA 145lb Georgia MMA Champion and a Brown Belt in Brazillian Jiu Jitsu from one of the most prestigious schools in America, Alliance Acadamy in Roswell, GA . Home of Red Belt Romero "Jacare" Cavalcanti and World Champion Rubens "Cobrinha" Charles Maciel. Outside the cage Gentry brings equal parts information and color to our commentary team, a Real Estate specialist and co-owner of Eagle MMA in Lawrenceville, GA.

SportFight X returned to the Georgia World Congress Center for another night of MMA action. Here are the results of what is being described by industry insiders and critics as "TOP NOTCH SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT!"

190 lb - Kendrick Miree def Rusty Transue by RNC, 2:45 in R2

A back and forth battle in the first round,Kendrick Miree an up and comer from American Top Team Atlanta sunk in a rear naked choke after taking Transue's back.

170 lb – Earl Waller defeats Allen Little by Unanimous Decision

Waller earned himself a decision victory by dipping in and out of Little's range and making it hard for his opponent to catch a rhythm during three rounds of constant action.

155 lb – Travis Lord defeats Alphonso Batista by TKO, 2:27 of R2

Lord an obvious crowd favorite, dominated this fight from start to finish as Batista could no longer take the punishment in the second round.

205 lb – Josh Seinkbal defeats Aaron Black by split decision

The Full Back for West Alabama Josh Seinkbal, came to Atlanta game and ready for the Lumberjack Aaron Black. The two fought an amazing war that went back and forth and left both fighters beaten and bruised, yet completely satisfied with their own performance. After the decision was made both fighters smiled and declared how "Fun" the fight was.

135 lb – Andre “300” Caminera defeats Johnny Arango by KO, 1:37 of R1

Finding a formidable opponent for Andre Camarena is never an easy task. Johnny Arango, proved a definite challenge, although short lived. "300" proved too fast and too accurate with his trademark striking and left his opponent barely conscious and collapsed on the canvas, following a vicious combination.

155 lb (pro) – James Wynn defeats Micah Goss, TKO, 4:06 of R1

The controversy of the night came when the referee stopped the fight after witnessing Goss fall to the canvas without as much of bracing himself. Goss immediately came to and grabbed for his opponents leg only to have the fight called as a TKO in Wynn's favor.

155 lb (pro) – James Logan defeats Mark Howe by submissions (RNC), 4:12 of R1

James Logan weathered the mild resistance from his opponent Mark Howe of Toe2Toe fitness. Howe's attack came hard but was no match for "The Yes Man's" versatility as he was eventually quickly ground down and submitted in the first round.

155 lb (pro) – Jacob Allman defeats Troy Dollar by unanimous decision

A domination by no means as Allman was able to nullify the strengths of the dangerous Troy Dollar, a champion striker and purple belt in BJJ. The war lasted three full rounds and Allmans ability to dictate the direction of the fight translated into a key victory and he remains unbeaten in 9 career fights.

155 lb (pro) – Dustin Center defeats Kenny Jackson by submission (Americana armbar), 3:22 of R2

Another outstanding fight, Kenny Jackson was the faster and slicker of the two yet Dustin Center proved stronger. In several instances Jackson his opponent in bad position and it appeared Center had tapped but the referee did not see this. The fight continued and eventually led to Center submitting Jackson, however the GAEC has called for further review and could potentially lead to the ruling being overturned depending on video replay.

155 lb (pro) – Jerrid Burke defeats Mark Corum by unanimous decision

There are only few matches that stand-out in your mind as utter barn burners. Fights that you show your friends to highlight the skill, heart and determination of true Mixed Martial Arts warriors. This was definitely one of those fights. This match was uttered "Fight of the Year" from many of the evenings patrons, without a doubt it was fight of the night.

It started with the always entertaining Jerrid Burke, known aside from legitimate skill and athleticism creative entrances, entered on a tricycle in a tuxedo as "Billy" the clown puppet in the Saw movie series.

For three solid rounds these two warriors stood and traded until the very end without the benefit of standing 10 counts for rest after a knock down or 10 oz boxing gloves as Corum used when he started his career in Muay Thai. The fight ended with the crowd on its feet and Jerrid Burke's hand raised in a hard earned decision.

155 lb (pro) – EJ Brooks defeats Eric Kriegermeier by split decision

EJ Brooks bragged before this fight that he had never been hit in the face more than four total times in any given fight. That trend did not continue last night as Kreigermeier used his ability to fend off all take down attempts and continuously assaulted the face of the "Pretty Boy". Many times Brooks appeared rocked and swayed in firing range of Kreig who could not quite seal the deal. Brooks survived the onslaught and fought his way back to a well deserved split decision.

185 lb (pro) – Johnny Buck defeats George Allen by tap out (Head and Arm Choke), 3:20 of R2

Johnny Buck did as he promised and finished George Allen with relative ease. Taking Allen down at will, softening him up with punches and eventually sunk in the submission. Buck, a North Carolina native known for his cockiness and outward opinions paraded around the cage after the victory seeming to bask in his showering of boos from spectators.

170 lb (pro) – Dhiego Lima defeats Keon Caldwell by submission (kimura), 4:44 of R1

Caldwell lived up to his statement that he would stand and trade with Lima who in previous interviews expressed disbelief. A nearly equal match-up on the feet Lima chose to take the path of least resistance and scooped Caldwell completely upside down, slamming his head to the canvas. Lima who hails from a world-class camp was able to sink in a submission attempt within seconds of being on the ground, however the stubborn Caldwell refused to tap. Lima held position from on his back, to on top, to standing up and back to the ground again. The referee finally stopped the fight as Caldwell's elbow dislocated, which the ring side physician was able to correct within a few seconds leaving the fighter in pain, but without permanent injury.

205 lb (pro) – Ethan Garrison defeats Sammy Collingwood by submission (armbar), in 3rd minute of R2

Garrison faced a very tough opponent in Sammy Collingwood who proved both crafty and gritty by escaping and strengthening his way out of several submission attempts by the Pan Am BJJ World Champion. Craft and grit would not be enough to win the match as Garrison eventually softened Collingwood's toughness and slipped in an armbar that finished the fight.

Things Heat Up at the “Undefeated” Weigh-Ins

The tension was thick when Dhiego Lima and Keon Caldwell took the scales. Obviously unimpressed with each others credentials, the two faced off in the most literal sense, touching forehead to forehead.

The SportFight X mission statement in a nutshell. The goal is to further expand the SPORT of Mixed Martial Arts and present it in a positive light outside the typical demographic.

Which is exactly what happened when SportFight X invaded the Fox 5 studios and did a little MMA showcase. Ethan Garrison and Douglas Lima demonstrate striking techniques and talk of their experience with the sport, SportFight X CEO William "Soco" McAlister talks of the rules and regulations that keep the sport safe for the fighters.
